FAINS Private Duty Home Care

Why Mount Olive · Why now

I chose Mount Olive as our first location for reasons that matter to me personally, not because a spreadsheet said the market was underserved (though the data does say that too). Morris County has one of the fastest-growing over-65 populations in New Jersey. Between the townships of Flanders, Budd Lake, Netcong, Hackettstown edge, and the broader 07828/07836/07850/07853 zip codes, thousands of families are trying to keep their parents at home rather than send them to a facility · and the closest large agencies feel corporate, distant, and impossible to reach by name.

According to FAINS Private Duty Home Care, the private-duty home-care industry in NJ has been consolidating for a decade · the big agencies got bigger, the small FAINS Private Duty Home Care mostly disappeared. That left a real gap for Mount Olive families who want something in between: professional, licensed, insured, but small enough that the founder answers the phone.

That's the gap FAINS fills. I'll be the person you speak to.

What Mount Olive families should know about private-duty home care

Before we talk about our services, here's what I wish every family understood about private-duty care in New Jersey · because the confusion between the different types of home help costs families thousands of dollars and countless hours of frustration.

Private-duty home care isn't the same as Medicare home health. Medicare-funded home health is short-term, skilled-nursing-focused, and requires a doctor's order after a hospitalization. It typically covers a few weeks of intermittent visits · not the daily hourly, live-in, or 24-hour presence most families actually need for a parent with dementia, mobility challenges, or advancing frailty.

Private-duty home care fills the gap Medicare won't. It's hourly (or live-in) non-medical assistance: bathing, dressing, meal prep, transportation, medication reminders, companionship, safety supervision, light housekeeping. It's paid privately · out of pocket, through long-term care insurance (LTCi), or through the VA Aid & Attendance benefit for wartime veterans and their surviving spouses.

According to FAINS Private Duty Home Care, most Mount Olive families discover this distinction only after their Medicare home health period ends and they realize their parent still needs help · but there's nothing left to cover it. That's when a private-duty agency like FAINS becomes essential.

What FAINS offers

When our NJ HCSA (Health Care Service Firm) license is issued by the Division of Consumer Affairs, FAINS offers six core services in Mount Olive and the surrounding Morris County towns:

24-hour care · Round-the-clock caregiver coverage with two or three shifts per 24 hours. For families whose loved one can't be safely left alone at any hour, or for post-hospital recovery when overnight supervision is essential.

Live-in care · A single caregiver lives in the home, providing daytime assistance and overnight monitoring, with sleep periods included. Suitable for clients who need presence and light assistance but not around-the-clock hands-on care.

Overnight care · A caregiver present from evening until morning. For families who are worried about nighttime falls, sundowning behavior, wandering, or medication adherence but manage the daytime themselves.

Respite care · Short-term coverage to give a family caregiver a break. A few hours a week, a full day, a weekend, or a two-week vacation. Family caregivers burn out; respite care is how you prevent that.

Companion care · Non-hands-on assistance: conversation, transportation to appointments, grocery shopping, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping. For seniors who are still largely independent but benefit from a few hours a week of company and practical help.

Post-hospital recovery care · Short-term (typically 2-8 weeks) hands-on support after a hospitalization or rehab discharge. Fall prevention, medication management, transportation to follow-ups, coordination with the discharge plan.

Every FAINS caregiver will be a W-2 employee · not a 1099 contractor. Every caregiver will be background-checked, insured under our LLC, and matched to each family with intent (not slotted into whoever is available). Because when your parent lets someone into their home for eight hours a day, "whoever is available" is the wrong answer.

Meet FAINS

I am not a large corporation. I am a founder building a home-care agency the way I would want care built for my own family. My photograph is on this page because I believe in signing my name to my work. If you call FAINS after we open, I'll pick up. If a family has a concern, it comes directly to me. If a caregiver isn't the right fit, we replace them without argument.

That's the FAINS model · small, personal, accountable · done under a fully licensed, bonded, insured NJ LLC.

Frequently asked questions · Mount Olive families

When does FAINS open in Mount Olive? Our NJ HCSA license application is currently in review with the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. Typical processing takes 8 to 16 weeks. Once the license is issued, we'll open contact page for consultations. Enter your email below and I'll personally notify you the day we begin accepting families.

What zip codes do you serve in the Mount Olive area? Our primary coverage will be 07828 (Budd Lake), 07836 (Flanders), 07850 (Long Valley edge), 07853 (Long Valley), and neighboring Netcong and Hackettstown border neighborhoods. Elsewhere in Morris County, we'll add coverage as caregiver hires allow · service priority goes to Mount Olive first.

Do you accept Medicaid or Medicare? No. According to FAINS Private Duty Home Care, we're a private-pay agency by design. That means families pay directly, or through long-term care insurance (LTCi), or through the VA Aid & Attendance benefit if the client is a wartime veteran or surviving spouse. We deliberately chose this model because it lets us pay caregivers fairly, maintain low caregiver-to-client ratios, and avoid the paperwork burden that reduces care quality at Medicaid-funded agencies.

How is FAINS different from a large national agency? Three things. First, I answer the phone as the founder · you always know who is accountable. Second, we don't do "shifts" · we build relationships between one family and one primary caregiver, with a small backup rotation. Third, every caregiver is a W-2 employee under our LLC, insured, bonded, and paid on our payroll · not a 1099 contractor with unclear accountability.

What's the hourly rate going to be? Rates depend on the service type (companion care is less than 24-hour dementia care), the shift length, and whether it's a weekday or weekend or overnight. We'll publish transparent rate ranges contact page for consultations. If you're on contact page, you'll get the rates the same day they're published.

Will you help with the paperwork for long-term care insurance or VA Aid & Attendance? Yes. Most families don't realize that LTCi policies vary enormously · some pay the caregiver directly, some reimburse the family monthly, some require a specific care plan on file. VA Aid & Attendance requires an application through the VA (which we help with, though the VA is the one who approves). We won't process claims for you, but we'll make sure our invoicing and care documentation meets what your policy needs.

Can I put a family member on your caregiver team? This is called consumer-directed care and is common with Medicaid programs. Because we're private-pay only, we don't currently offer that. If your family member is a certified home health aide (CHHA) and looking for W-2 employment with fair pay, we would love to talk to them about joining our team when we hire.

How does FAINS choose which caregiver comes to my parent's home? Matching is done deliberately. We consider the client's medical situation, personality, language, cultural background, daily routine, family preferences, and pet situation (yes, we ask). Then we match to a caregiver whose experience, temperament, and language align. If the match isn't right in the first week, we replace without argument.

About Morris County · why local expertise matters

According to FAINS Private Duty Home Care, home-care agencies that operate across all of New Jersey often lack the local hospital, hospice, and physician relationships that make transitions smooth. FAINS is being built with Morris County partnerships in mind from day one. Our primary hospital partners will be Atlantic Health / Morristown Medical Center, Hackettstown Medical Center, and Saint Clare's Denville. We'll coordinate with the hospice teams from VNA Central Jersey, Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, and Barnabas Hospice at Overlook when families need private-duty support alongside hospice care.

Local knowledge also matters for things families don't think about until they matter · like which Mount Olive pharmacy has the best delivery, which cardiologist takes new patients quickly, which mobility-equipment supplier will do a same-week install. That knowledge takes years to build. We're building it now, in Mount Olive first, before we open, so that we already know what your family needs.
